Having a headache and being dizzy at the same time can be very scary and frightening. It can also be very painful and disabling. Being dizzy or getting pounding headaches can stop you from doing your daily activities and can be very frustrating.

Here are some ways you can stop headaches and dizziness.

Warm heat pack on the neck

To ease headaches, especially tension headaches, then one of the best ways to ease your neck is by applying a warm heat pack on your neck for at least 20 minutes. This will help all your muscles in your neck and skull to be relaxed. It also helps to increase the blood flow in your head which help the majority of headaches and dizziness to feel better.

Drink water

Dehydration is one of the major causes of headaches and dizziness. This is because when you lose a lot of body fluid, you do not get enough blood to the brain. This causes headaches and dizziness. Dehydration is very common when you are sick with the virus, diarrhoea, heat stroke, bleeding and many other conditions. The quickest and most efficient way to stop this is to drink plenty of fresh water. You will find out that it will quickly resolve your headaches and dizziness.

Lie down on a slight incline upright

Your inner ear can cause you to feel dizzy and give you headaches. This is because your inner ear detects your balance and your body position in space. When your ear gets inflamed, infected or irritated, it can cause you to have headaches and dizziness. Hence, the best way to stop it is to lie down still, but slightly sit-up with a slight incline. This allows your inner ear to be relaxed and will stop the dizziness.

If you continue to have the dizziness, your inner maybe infected or there is some dysfunction. In that case, it is best to speak to your doctor to get it remedied.

Cover your eyes or avoid bright lights

Our eyes have reflexes that sense our balance and head. For instance, when we move our eyes our head and body follow. This is an eye – body reflex. Sometimes, there are some conditions where our eyes will spasm causing dizziness such as inflammation around the eye (pink eye). This will cause dizziness and headaches. To remedy it, it is best to sit or lie in a dark room with your eyes covered. This will stop the dizziness and headaches temporarily. If this persists, it is best to consult your medical practitioner.
